Treatment of skin pigmentations

Frequently asked questions about the treatment of red skin changes with the ICON laser

The Max G head is specialized in treating pigments. Depending on the laser parameters used the ICON laser can treat hyperpigmentations or reddish pigmented skin changes such as burst capillaries or hemangioma.
The cause of the red lesions are dilated or burst capillaries. The ICON Laser submits controlled light impulses that create thermal energy which destroys the dilated or burst capillaries. In the case of hyperpigmentations the ICON laser targets the pigments and destroys the lesions which are then removed from the body.
Clients who suffer from dilated or burst capillaries, rosacea and/or hemangiomas benefit greatly from the treatment.

Direct sun exposure and sauna visits should be avoided before and after the treatment.

A laser gel is applied to the treatment area and then the laser impulses are submitted. After the treatment cool packs and a sun protection cream are applied to the skin.

The first results are visible after a few days. As the fractioned laser simulates cell renewal and collagen prodcution the final results are visible after 6 weeks.

Redness and swelling can occur straight after the laser treatment which resolve within a few days.
Direct sun exposure and sauna visits should be avoided and an SPF 50 cream applied to avoid any pigment changes after the laser treatment.
No, there is no down time. You can go straight back to your daily life.

The laser treatment lasts about 15-30 minutes.

The treatment is only slightly uncomfortable. Clients might experience a slight feeling of heat or warmth. An anesthetic cream can be applied onto more delicate areas such as the lips when needed.

Frequently asked questions about the treatment of hyperpigmentations with the ICON laser

A hyperpigmentation is a brown discoloration of the skin. Unpleasant dark spots often occur on the face but also on the hands and other body parts.

There are multiple causes of hyperpigmentations:

  • Hyperpigmentation due to hormones
  • Aging spots or spots due to sun damage
  • Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation after an inflammation of the skin such as acne, eczema or psoriasis
  • Hyperpigmentation after insect bites
Clients who suffer from any kind of hyperpigmentation benefit greatly from the treatment.
The light impulse acts at the surface of the skin where the dark pigments (so called melanin) are assembled. During the treatment the pigments are heated up and degraded and then finally shed from the surface of the skin.
A laser gel is applied to the treatment area and then the laser impulses are submitted. After the treatment cool packs and a sun protection cream are applied to the skin.
The treatment is only mildly uncomfortable with an occasional stinging feeling like a light sun burn.

A treatment session lasts about 15 minutes.

The first results are visible about one week after the treatment.

Redness and swelling can occur straight after the laser treatment which can be reduced with cool packs. Occasionally mild crusts can appear one day after the treatment which resolve within a few days.
Direct sun exposure and sauna visits should be avoided and an SPF 50 cream applied to avoid any pigment changes after the laser treatment..

Frequently asked questions about the treatment of scars & deep wrinkles with the 1540 head of the ICON Laser

The 1540 ICON laser is fractionated laser that submits bundled light channels into the superficial and/or deep layer of the skin.
A fractionated laser creates through the submission of bundled light channels micro lesions in the skin. This stimulates the surrounding tissue to produce new cells and collagen fibers – the body´s own repair mechanism is triggered to renew the skin.
The fractionated laser can be used to treat following skin changes:

  • Deep wrinkles in the face, neck and décolleté
  • Dark age spots
  • Sun damage
  • Chloasma/ Melasma
  • Scars
Direct sun exposure should be avoided before a laser treatment.
